It all started with Rocky — a rescue dog I found on the streets with a broken leg as he was beaten and abused left with a heart full of fear.
Two years later came Tommy — another soul needing a home, love, and patience.
Both carried trauma, reactivity, and trust issues.
Together, we learned that healing isn’t just about training — it’s about understanding.
After a life-changing incident that led to court cases, fines, and tears, I realized how many rescue owners silently face the same pain.
That’s why I created Leash Again — to support both dogs and humans on their journey to rebuild trust, hope, and confidence.

Problem

I’ve been there — crying after walks, terrified of what people thought, wishing someone or something could just understand.

Shima — a designer, storyteller, and rescue dog mom who built Leash Again straight from the heart.
My journey started when I found Rocky on the streets with a broken leg and brought him all the way to Canada for a second chance. A few years later came Tommy, scared, reactive, and in need of healing — just like me.
Between endless walks, setbacks, and even a lawsuit after a bite incident, I learned how lonely and misunderstood rescue dog owners can feel.
So I decided to create what I needed back then — a space filled with empathy, guidance, and hope for both humans and dogs learning to trust again.
That’s how Leash Again was born — out of love, lessons, and a whole lot of resilience. 🐾

Shimen is a pharmacy student in Italy with a lifelong love for animals and a growing passion for social media storytelling.
She first met Rocky and Tommy in Rome — two fearful, reactive dogs who had already been through so much. Watching their progress through trust, patience, and training changed her life.
On Christmas Day, she witnessed the bite incident that shook everything — the fear, the chaos, and the helplessness. But what stayed with her most was seeing Shima’s pain, and realizing how many people go through moments like that alone.
That day planted a seed — the idea of creating something that offers support, education, and compassion for owners who don’t have a safety net when things go wrong.
